Interior of Schuurman I, a new build in Castleton-On-Hudson, New York

This house began with a single image: a European cottage fireplace, and a living room gathered around it. The design grew outward from that hearth: double-stacked trusses carrying the roofline to a high peak, cathedral ceilings over the main space, European tile running through the house. A whole home built from one warm idea.
